A green lawn all year long without pesticides.
Synthetic turf is a grass-like ground cover that replicates lush natural grass in appearance and function. Used to replace live grass in lawns, sports fields, playgrounds, parks, golf courses, etc., the turf is an eco-friendly and economical solution for residential and commercial properties.
Synthetic or artificial turf – manufactured much like a carpet – is made from a tufting process where needles insert filaments of grassy polyurethane or nylon fibers into a backing. The backing can be woven from a number of materials including jute, plastic, polyester or rubber, and is designed with drainage holes that allow water and other liquids to flow through it and into the ground. Rubber, cork, sand or a combination thereof are commonly used to infill turf to support the grassy blades and create a cushy surface.
The sports facilities, where we acquire our high performance turf, upgrade to a newer generation ground cover most often because the manufacturer's warranty on the turf has expired. Even though the turf is no longer under warranty, much of it is still in great condition. Our team of turf extraction experts assess the quality of the turf and discard any sections that do not meet our quality standards. As a result, your cleaned and installed turf is like new.
Used in outdoor applications since the 1960s, turf systems are continuously perfected, and new technologies have improved the look and performance of synthetic turf. Player safety has improved, the turf market has broadened and it stands up well to high intensity activity. Synthetic turf provides a consistent year-round, all weather playing surface without downtime for recovery, and is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions.
As a landscape cover, synthetic turf provides a low maintenance, weed-free surface that doesn't need to be watered or fertilized, and is available in styles that look like the grass types that are prevalent in southern Colorado.
Infill is brushed into the turf to create a cushion, making for a soft and comfortable padding. The infill lowers the chance of injury during sports and play. Though our turf recycling process, we separate the two making the infill available for additional purposes.
We filter the sand/rubber out from any other debris that may have infiltrated the turf. The rubber is still in great condition and can be used to create footings in horse arenas, soft-safe playground surfaces, trails, race parks, dog runs, doggy daycares, mulch and more. It can also be mixed into asphalt and used in rubber plastic blends.
Turf could be considered safer than grass as dirt can contain heavy metals and other contaminates that are not present in synthetic turf. All newly manufactured turf must comply with over 24 American Society for Testing and Material standards that ensure the turf is safe and durable. As a result, newly manufactured turf is a high quality product that can be cleaned and reused.
According to the Synthetic Turf Council (STC), the rubber in the turf does not pose a significant threat to anyone that comes into contact with it. The rubber improves the playing surface for your sports team or creates a bouncy safe surface for your family and/or team play. During the 1960s, the Ford Foundation invested in the development of turf to offer safe year-round outdoor playing spaces to children living in urban areas.
